Women's Basketball Sets Single Season Wins Record at ACCA Tournament

The Kansas Christian women's basketball team won their first two games at the ACCA National Tournament hosted by Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo. this week. The two wins give them the most wins in a single season in program history. The Falcons are now 14-9 on the season. 

On Wednesday, the Falcons topped Southwestern Adventist 65-59. The Falcons trailed by four after the first quarter but used a 16-10 second quarter advantage to lead by two at halftime. The Falcons extended their lead to 10 to start the fourth quarter and held on for the six point victory. Monique Hunt had her highest point total of the season with 21 points leading all scorers. Hunt also had eight rebounds and five assists. Brendeja Holloman had another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Ali Warnere scored 14 points. Sidnee Bergquist added 12 points making three shots from three point range. 

On Thursday, the Falcons cruised to a 64-42 win. After a tightly contested first half the Falcons pulled away for good in the second half for the 22 point victory. Four Falcons scored in double figures. The defense for Kansas Christian held Faith Lutheran to shooting just 22% from the field. 

Brendeja Holloman was a force for the Falcons recording her first triple double of the season. Holloman scored 16 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and had 10 assists. Ali Warner was the top scorer with 16 points while Monique Hunt had a double-double behind 13 points and 14 rebounds. Nickiah Metcalf scored 10 points. 

The Falcons play Ozark Christian in the final pool play game of the ACCA Tournament on Friday at 5pm.
