Falcons Pick Up First Win
The Falcons (1-18) had a loaded weekend, competing in three matches over two days, against Arlington Baptist, Barclay and Calvary.
While it may have been taxing on the players, head coach Doug Dahman said their effort was rewarded. Against Barclay (1-10), Kansas Christian came out firing, shutting out the Bears 3-0.
"Our match against Barclay was a great example of what we can do as a team when we're playing at out best," he said. "We've been waiting for a breakout game. It was impressive, and I hope our team saw what we're capable of, too."
The season hasn't been the smoothest for the Falcons, but Coach Dahman has been consistent in his message.
"It comes down to attitude, said the coach. "You have to have a winning culture and learn how to win. We're young, but I think we've got what it takes. We've just got to play like that more consistently."
Looking ahead, Coach Dahman said they'll try to take advantage of a two week break and allow some players to heal up, while also getting some good practice in. The team's final match will be on Oct 29th against Manhattan Christian. From there, the Falcons will shift their focus to regionals and look to make some noise with a late season push.
"It (the win) gave us something to work with at regionals; and hopefully, we can build on that in the offseason and going into next year, Dahman said. "We want to win every match, but we've got to beleive we're going to win every match. We're right there."
